My 365 Photo A Day Project – Day 269 – Mesquite Taste & Trade 2015

We went to the Mesquite Taste & Trade and the Hampton Inn & Suites and we had a great time!

We arrived early and started making our way around the booths.

We got a pic with Elvis.

And they had a cute photo op at the Painting with a Twist booth.

And who doesn’t want to be a mariachi??

Fun times and full bellies make for a great night.

Stay awesome y’all!! ~lisa

Love what you do…

…and do what you love!  I love to create things so I tried to recreate something I saw in a store not too long ago.

Here’s my inspiration piece.

I sketched out the design.

Took some Martha Stewart metallic gold paint.

Painted the heart and…..

Added the word love, the outline and the dots.

I was pleased with how it turned out!

My 365 Photo A Day Project – Day 265 – CAbi chambray happiness

I’ve been searching for a fitted chambray shirt.  I have one but it’s not fitted and I feel it’s not as flattering to my shape as I’d like.  One of my friends wore a fitted one the other day and it was from CAbi from their Fall 2014 line.  It was exactly what I wanted.  Except it was $98.  I’m not about that so I searched to see if I could find it somewhere else and found out that they have an outlet mall in Allen, TX.  I called and found out that the shirt would be in today so I put that on my list of things to do!

The shirt was discounted to $68 and in the store today they offered a scratch off.  We scored an additional 50% off!  I was soooo excited!

I’m so excited to wear this!  Do you have a chambray shirt?  How do you style it?

High 5 Friday – 09.25.15

1.  I love seeing inspiration OOTD and travel outfit ideas.  One of my favorite youtuber’s is Ingrid Nilsen and she has a great packing video.  CLICK HERE to watch it.  In the video she packs a pair of flats that have a cat face on them and they are completely adorbs!  I’ve been hunting for a reasonably priced pair and came across this pair at Target.  They are a toddler’s size and although I do have a very small foot they aren’t big enough for me.  The hunt continues….

2.  Have you ever had garlic mash?  I have never had it so I googled several recipes and came to the conclusion that it’s basically just making mashed potatoes but substituting the cauliflower for the potatoes.

We did make it but I added too much milk so it was a bit runny for my taste.  I will try it again soon though.  I mean I am trying to eat healthier and all.  haha!

3.  I’ve never gotten into the animal print trend but recently have felt drawn to it.  I started searching online for some great options but have come up short.  My problem is the ones I like are expensive and I prefer to be a lot more frugal in my purchases.  If you happen to come across a really cute pair let me know!

And while we are on the subject of animal print flats…what is the difference between leopard and cheetah?  I’m still struggling with that question.

4.  Ellipsis.  If you have read my blog or follow me on any social media then you know that I love ellipsis and use them often.  Probably too much but I just can’t help myself.  When I write I think in my head and in my head I pause so I then use ellipsis.

This actually came up because a friend posted on facebook that one of her friends was overusing ellipsis.  Maybe it was me?  😉

5.  Ozona’s will be the site of my high school reunion.  I can’t believe it has been 30 years since I graduated from high school but it has and it will be fun to see old friends and reconnect.

Toilet Paper Roll “Rose” Wreath

When I was searching for crafts using empty toilet paper rolls…wait….what?  You don’t do that to?  Find random items and try to figure out a craft with them?  😉

Well that is exactly what I do and I came across the Proverbs 31 Life blog and fell in love with her Toilet Paper Roll Wreath

inspiration piece from Proverbs31Life

Target had a similar wreath for sale that is a good inspiration piece as well.

I just knew I had to try it.

I gathered my supply of empty toilet paper rolls, a wreath form and grabbed my glue gun and baby I was ready to go.  {note – I purchased the 10” white wreath from Hobby Lobby and used my 40% off mobile coupon to get it for $2.59}

I pretty much followed the tutorial on the Proverbs 31 Life and cut my toilet paper rolls into thirds.  I did not measure them, just eyeballed it and hoped for the best.

I also tried to count the number that was used in my inspiration piece and figured out it would be a lot.  Yes I know, I am great at math.

Next you have to cut each piece into a spiral.  It’s not as easy as it sounds and I found using the smallest pair of scissors that I had, helped.

I was now ready to begin hot gluing the spirals onto the wreath.

Here’s how it looks with the spirals on it.  I’m leaving a space empty to be able to hang a ribbon.

Now it’s ready to paint.  I wasn’t concerned about the different color rolls as I figured worse case scenario, the variations in color would just add some dimension and depth.

In this close-up you’ll notice the strands of glue.  I tried to clean it up as best as I could but If I were to do it over, I’d be a little more careful when gluing.

And now….the finished piece!

I was originally going to hang this in the window of my office but decided to add it to my wall instead.  I love how it turned out!

My 365 Photo A Day Project – Day 262 – The waiting game…

We had to pick up my folks from the airport tonight.  I don’t mind waiting because then you get to people watch.  Some things that I wonder as I wait….

Where they are going?

Where they are coming from?

Why did they wear that?

Did they have a good time?

Oh that’s a cute outfit, where did she get that from?

Why are they traveling?

They took all that as a carry on?

What things do you wonder about?

My pumpkin patch is complete!

I finished adding the final touches to my office cubicle decor.

I started off with one little pumpkin.

Then added a couple more.

Then added a backdrop.

And finally I added a little candle stand, another pumpkin and drew a pumpkin on the backdrop.

I think it adds a nice little touch for when I go to the other office!

How do you decorate your work space?
