Sephora Sample Haul

Y’all know that I am a big fan of JCP and I am quickly becoming a Sephora fan!  Samples from Sephora *and* InStyle make me a happy camper!

I recently visited the InStyle Salon and as I was checking out they gave me two samples of Biolage.  I love how it smells.

I *finally* got my sample of the Sephora mascara.  This is the one that I had to go back to the store multiple times for.  The offer was supposed to start early November but they didn’t have it in stock until several days later.

I have a review on the mascara coming up in a few days.

I also returned the Bare Minerals BB cream that I had recently purchased.  I had asked for a product that felt light and while it did feel light, I just didn’t feel the coverage was there.  After chatting with a different advisor she suggested trying Smashboxx Camera Ready BB Cream

or the Smashboxx Camera Ready CC Cream

She also suggested the Smashboxx Color Correcting primer.

In addition to that….as if the samples weren’t already enough, she also gave me a sample of Sephora Instant Moisturizer.

A sample of Marc Jacobs Decadence.

And my favorite sample is this NARS mascara!  I have already tried this so {{CLICK HERE}} to read that review.

Rocking a vintage shirt

fashion blogger, lifestyle blogger, beauty blogger

This was my OOTD (Outfit Of The Day) and I am totally loving it.

You can see my new TOMS booties and my favorite pair of Liz Claiborne jeans.  My favorite part of this outfit is my shirt.  What is so cool about my shirt?  Well, let me tell you…

The shirt belonged to, and was made by, my maternal grandmother.  The pattern has a different, retro vibe to it and it’s a bit longer, similar to a tunic in length.  It’s feels like a polyester or polyester blend and has to be at least 30 years old.

While I am not exactly sure how or when it came into my possession, I’ve always hung onto it because it is pretty much the only thing I have of my grandmother’s.  Admittedly it is not the best fitting shirt I’ve ever worn but I honestly loved wearing it today because it was special.

Do you have any pieces of clothing that are special mementos?

NARS Audacious Mascara Review

I tried out the NARS Audacious Mascara today in Black Moon 3871.

The first thing I noticed, and was concerned about, was the brush.

The brush was not full like I usually prefer.  And this will seem weird to be in a review, but the sound it makes when you pull the wand out of the tube creeps me out.  Kind of like the sound your nails make when scratching a chalkboard.  Pull the wand out and you’ll see what I mean.  Maybe it’s just me.

Once I got past the sound that the wand made, I did find that the mascara went on well.  The coverage was great and my lashes looked full.  When I tried to apply a second coat a few minutes later though, my lashes felt like the mascara had dried out.

All in all the NARS Audacious Mascara was not one of my top favs butwould work fine if you aren’t intending to do multiple coats.

Have you tried it?

Clinique High Impact Mascara

I tried out the High Impact Mascara from Clinique in the color 01 BLACK and I love it!

It goes on great with no clumping.  It separates the lashes for a full lash look.

I also really like how it doesn’t feel dried out so you can apply multiple coats.  I will definitely be considering this when I need to purchase some more mascara!

What is your favorite mascara?

Booties….do I choose the ones from TOMS or Target?

Please help me decide!

lifestyle blogger, fashion blogger

First up are the pair from Target.  They have a higher heel, are a darker color and have less detailing on them.  The heel is thinner at the back, there is a zipper on the side for added ease in getting them on and off and they have a little less cushion on the inside.

The TOMS have a lower heel, are a lighter taupe and have more detailing on them.  The heel is thicker at the back and they have more cushion on the inside.

TOMS on the left and Target on the right.

Now there is a significant difference in the price.  The TOMS are $89 and the pair from Target are $34.  I like the darker color and the higher heel but I also like the detailing and more cushion.

Sephora Haul

It’s not really a haul since I only purchased one item BUT I did get a free clutch and some great freebies!

I went to get this cute clutch that they were giving free to Sephora Insiders.

I had also printed an email that they sent me for a mini mascara.  They hadn’t stocked those yet so they gave me several samples.

What I ended up purchasing was some BB cream from Bare Minerals.  The associate did a color analysis on me and we went with the color “buttercream 03”.  I’ll try it for a few days to see how I like it.  They said I could return it if I don’t so no harm, right?

That’s it – one freebie, one purchase and several samples.

Ankle bootie decisions…

I recently ordered some taupe TOMS booties.  Super cute and I’m in love with them already!!

But then I saw these from Target…..

Now I admit they are very similar and I prefer the TOMS as they have more detail to them and the bottom is different.  What I don’t like is that the TOMS are $89 and the ones from Target are $34.99

I’ve ordered both so we’ll see how they feel when they come in but unless I am just completely blown away by the comfort and fit I will probably be going with the ones from Target.

And I got so excited about how much I was saving that I bought these leopard print flats for $14.99!

I mean seriously, every girl needs a great pair of leopard print flats in her closet, right?

Which ones would you have chosen?
