I’ve got high hopes

One song that always comes to my mind when the new year rolls around is “High Hopes”.  To me it just reminds me that things are possible.

“Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can’t
Move a rubber tree plant

But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes
He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin’ low
‘Stead of lettin’ go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he’d punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin’ that dam

‘Cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin’ bad
‘stead of feelin’ sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
They’ll be bursted soon
They’re just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop”

I put my hand up on my hip….

When I dip, you dip, we dip…..

I always pose for my pics with my hand on my hip.  I guess because I don’t really know what to do with my hands?  haha!  Not really sure but let’s talk about the outfit.

The shirt is by Merona and it’s oxblood red and y’all know that is one of my colors.  The jean capris are by a.n.a. and the shoes are Lower East Side from Payless.  I think I should have worn a different shoe.  I feel like I tried to be too matchy matchy and I also could have added a necklace.

What do y’all think?  Stay awesome y’all!! ~lisa

Sunday Mornings

I have this knit skirt that I enjoy wearing but it’s always tough to find the right top to go with it.  Sometimes I wear a t-shirt for a more casual look and sometimes I wear a knit top.

I am not sure if this top will be staying in my capsule wardrobe.  I’ve had it for a while but honestly it does not bring me joy when I wear it.  It goes in the same “I wear it because I have it” category as some other pieces in my closet.

And to be perfectly honest, I need to rethink the skirt.  If it is that difficult to pair with something, is it really working?  What I like most about it is the fact that it is a knit (easy to wear, easy to clean and travels well) and that it’s black (a standard neutral).  But I have to go back to the fact that I struggle with putting a top with it.  What are your thoughts on that?

The Fremont Troll

One of my favorite websites (and apps) is RoadsideAmerica.com.  I love visiting odd and unusual roadside attractions and the website has tons of them!

I’ve visited the Freemont Troll before but it’s always fun to see.  Have you ever been?  Do you have any pics?  What things do you like to see when you visit a city?

I forgot my maxi skirt….

but it all turned out okay anyway.

We were attending a graduation and despite the maxi skirt being on my packing list, it didn’t make it inside my bag.  It was early and there were no retail stores open so I grabbed my fav Liz Claiborne jeans and made the best of it because that’s what I do.

I mean I could have had a melt down about the skirt.  Or been upset with myself.  Or panicked or a whole bunch of things but mistakes happen.  I didn’t have the skirt and doing any of those other things wouldn’t have changed that.  One of the main points of my trip was to attend the graduation.  Not to wear the skirt.  So I kept my focus on the priority and had an awesome day.

Hide and Seek

My grandson loves to play hide and seek.

So every time we visit we play.

But this last time it got me to thinking about my goals and dreams.  Am I hiding from my dreams or seeking them out?

My ideas may seem silly to many but honestly I always want to live my life expressing myself creatively and to not waste time worrying about what others think.  So I will continue to make my YouTube videos, take my outfit of the day pics and just post about my awesome life because it makes me happy.  I hope that you do the things that make you happy.  Don’t hide from happiness and the things that contribute to it.  Seek it out.

Ready or not….here I come!

Stay awesome y’all!! ~lisa

Eternal Optimist

This is the name of my current nail color by Essie.

I would say that I am pretty much an eternal optimist.  I mean I googled it and the definition of eternal optimist is: a person who is always positive.

And that is basically me.

For as long as I can remember, I have truly felt that life is short and you should really embrace each day.  I choose to focus on the positive side of things and I assume the best in everyone.

I think that every minute that you spend being sad, angry, irritable, etc. is 60 seconds of your life that you will never get back so why waste that time?  If you get mad try to think how impactful this will be in your life next week.  Probably not that big of a deal, right?  So try to let the negativity go and embrace the positivity.

And this isn’t to say that I am not ever mad or unreasonable about things.  I am human after all.  I just try to really limit that time dwelling on things like that so that I can maximize the time spent sharing love.  Sharing my creative spirit.  Sharing my positivity about life.

The next time you feel like life is giving you lemons make a big ole pitcher of lemonade and think of ways to turn that frown upside down and find your smile again.
